Maala 2008 Index

A total of 60 companies participated in the 2008 Ranking, representing accumulated revenues of approximately NIS 200 billion and some 134,700 employees (around 13% of the country’s workers).
The 2008 Ranking contained, for the first time, a separate chapter on corporate governance, as well as an expanded environmental section.

An additional chapter on human rights and work environment included questions on recruitment of the handicapped and members of underrepresented population groups, treatment of sexual harassment in the workplace, enforcement of employee rights and the rights of contract workers, among other things.

According to Maala CEO Talia Aharoni: “The results of the 2008 Index reflect additional progress in the field of corporate responsibility in Israel, and the narrowing of the gap between the Israeli and world economies. This trend is necessary as part of Israel’s entrance into the OECD, and contributes to efforts to increase the competitiveness of the Israeli economy.”
